The Kansas City Chiefs have been linked to Odell Beckham Jr., but Andy Reid’s best option might be somewhere else.

Time is dwindling down for teams to make a decision on whether or not to sign veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., and the Kansas City Chiefs have recently stayed in touch with the Super Bowl champ.

But, with speculation around Beckham’s health and if he’ll truly be ready to play by the start of the postseason, teams like the Chiefs have to assemble backup plans.

If Beckham indeed is not fully healthy for a playoff run, then the Chiefs — not to mention other interested clubs — should be looking at the free agent pool ready to pounce.

One of the top free agent names recently signed in Dallas, with T.Y. Hilton becoming a Cowboy. So, his name is checked off the list. But, there are two other veteran wideouts that the Chiefs could bring in to make an instant impact.

With Patrick Mahomes playing the quarterback position like, well, Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs don’t need anything special. Adding a savvy veteran to the group will suffice, and Mohamed Sanu is exactly that.

Sanu, 33, most recently spent time with the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions last season before spending a bit of this past summer with the Miami Dolphins. Sanu has not appeared on a game day roster yet this year, though, as he was released before the regular season began.
